Big news to share....

It's not very clear... but that's twins!!!!!!  After a year of trying to get pregnant and stay pregnant, we've finally got some happy news to share!!!   We had our routine 7 week scan and saw a heartbeat and were elated, but then I had a bit of a scare at 9 weeks and begged for a scan... at the scan the nurse found two babies!!!!!  I was so shocked!!  And I had to ring my husband and tell him as he couldn't come with me.  It's still sinking in I think.

I've been waiting for the 12 week mark to share my news, and then I've been so sick and tired I just haven't had time to post....  I can't believe I'm pregnant with identical twins!! How exciting!  Also very overwhelming...  I am hoping for girls, as I already have a little boy, but I really just hope for 2 healthy babies to make it to full term!   Having twins means increased risks of lots of things, and as they're sharing a placenta there is also twin to twin transfusion syndrome to worry about, but I'm going to be positive and hopefully have a drama free pregnancy and birth!  I've been feeling incredibly tired though, and nauseas all the time... hopefully this will pass soon though, as I'm now 14 weeks along.

I haven't been doing any sewing to share... I did make a cute little dress for a friend but I forgot to take a photo - pregnant brain!?

Anyway, I am very excited about our fabulous news, and hopefully I'll be feeling well enough to do some sewing soon!!!

  1. Wow! Congratulations!!! That is fabulous news, you must be so pleased! I always thought I would love to have twins, but as I have recently had number 3, i think I would fall down with shock if the next pregnancy is twins! (we think we might go for 4 but then that is it).
Hope the nausea passes very soon, and you are able to enjoy the glow.
Can't wait to read about your progress. x

  3. PS I hope you feel better soon. I also suffer from terrible morning sickness - it's horrible! The best thing I did with the second one was go to hospital to be hydrated.

  8. Thanks Meg! I've always been a bit scared of the idea of twins, but I guess I'll learn to deal with it! Do you have a daughter Stella? That's one of my names for girls, if they're girls!

Thanks Polka Dot Daze! It is totally overwhelming but very exciting, because as you say, twins are lovely, it feels very special to be having identical twins! Like a gift from God! I hope I don't need to go to hospital for hydrating... you poor thing! It is terrible though, isn't it?

Thank you Rachel, so do I!

Thank you Kate - it is fantastic isn't it?! It's been a tough year, but finally we have some happy news!

Thanks Andi, hopefully I will... !

Thank you SophiaAster, it is very exciting!!

  10. congratulations!!!! as the mother of 15 month old twins I can say this! we found out on NYE that we were expecting twins and its a been a rollercoaster since then!

I also have a big girl who is now 3 and adores them! Have fun, it's hard work being pg with the twins and that's before you even deliver them but I'm sure you'll be in safe hands!!!!!!

my twins are such a blessing and love each other so much. They go to bed giggling at each other, babble to each other, steal toys from each other! oh so cute!

make sure you find out your nearest multiple birth club as they are full of helpful info while you are pregnant and a great resource. I've got some great friends with twins the same age and they know what you're going through!!!!!!

take care, rest up and eat loads!!!

  11. Thank you so much Heather, it really is fairytale news - after 2 miscarriages we're pregnant with twins!!! What a miracle!!

Thanks Corrie, I thought you had twins!! Well you definitely know how I feel. Are yours identical? That would have been exciting to find out on NYE! You must have been so busy with your daughter only 21 months old when you had your twins! My little boy will be almost 2 1/2. Did you get to full term? That's kind of strange not really knowing when they'll arrive... Oh gosh, I really don't think I have any idea what to expect... is it tough being pregnant with them?? When does it start being hard? At the moment is' just difficult because of the m/s.. I don't know anyone with twins, I will definitely join the AMBA. It feels like a blessing - a gift that I've been given. It's so nice to hear the good side of it - you look on the 'net and all you find is the bad stuff! Thank you!

I wish I could eat loads, I have no appetite at the moment, but hoping it will kick in soon!!! Thank you so much for your reply, it's lovely to hear from someone who knows what I'm going through!
